Playing around with Facebook
March 5, 2010, 2:47 pm
I was searching online for information about whether you could search your Facebook statuses (still haven’t found out if you can) and came across a really interesting blog post by Rob Banagale called 5 Creative Ways to Hack Your Facebook Profile Photo. Now, I wouldn’t really call these “hacking” because you’re not doing anything wrong and to me, hacking implies malice. He’s got some cool tips on that blog post and I decided to play around with a photo and came up with this:
You can click the image to see it a little bigger. Or, if you are on my friends list on Facebook, check it out for yourself on my profile.
Now, I’m not normally a whimsy/fantasy type of scrapper, but I like how my profile pic turned out! When I read Rob’s blogpost, I had that photo in mind. It’s one from 2006 of Lauren on a swing and I thought it’d be perfect for this “hack.” The chain link on the swing didn’t extract very well so I had to use a graphic for it and then decided to add the cute critters all around. (Those critters are actually a NEW PRODUCT of mine. Yes, I said new product! I have not created something brand new for sale in a long time. They’re not available just yet, but keep an eye on my iScrapbook store and they’ll be there within a week.) Here is a preview of them:

There are 16 items all made out of construction paper. How cute are they? Just to see if there is anyone reading my blog, if you want them for free, give me a little comment and they’re yours. Limited time offer!

Happy New Year!
January 9, 2009, 4:33 pm
Oh, what? It’s a whole week into the new year already? Well, boy, where does the time go? I’ve taken a break from blogging, but am back & I have a little giftie for everyone. First off, have you picked up “I like it LOUD!” at SBE yet? For $4.99 you get one fabulous boy kit. It’s available only at SBE and here are some previews:
And, at the request of one of my CT members, I’ve created some frames to match the ones in the kit. Right now there are 2 pretty small frames in the kit – they are about 2×3 inches. So I’ve made a pack of 6 frames (3 plain, 3 embellished) in larger sizes – they are approximately 4×4, 4×6 and 5×7. The image is linked, so grab them here on my blog for free:
And, to see this kit in use, please check out these LOs by my creative team! Just click the image to go to the DST gallery with the bigger version.

Enjoy & be sure to check back on Sunday for a brand new product coming out that will be at a fabulous price! I’ll be starting a new 2-day, 1-dollar Debut for new kits, so be sure to stop by Sunday and Monday for information about the new kit!

I’ve got THREE new items at SBE today and do I have a deal for you! SBE is having their first Dollar Door Busters sale, so you can grab these new items for just $1! They are all suede items – the suede blooms you may have seen at my other store before, but the trims/frames and papers are brand new.
And, I’ve got a coordinating Thanksgiving Turkey freebie for you, too. Grab this guy by just right clicking the image below & choosing to save to your computer. (The preview image is linked to the full res PNG. It’s pre-shadowed for realism, but on a transparent background. If you have trouble getting it, just drop me a comment here & I’ll hook you up!)
And if that wasn’t enough, the ENTIRE SBE store is 25% off (some exclusions apply, see SBE forum for details). So what are you waiting for? Go do your scrap shopping!

Round 3 of Funky Playground Designs Teacher’s Pet
August 12, 2008, 9:14 pm
And I made the cut! This is my submission for Assignment #3, which was to create a mini kit using 3 pieces of clip art and keep a consistent theme throughout. We had to make sure at least 75% of the kit used the clip art in some form. I think every piece in this mini kit uses the clip art! Now, if this was a regular kit, it wouldn’t be so “themed,” but that was the challenge, so this is what I came up with. Click here to find out how to get it!
Wish me luck as we get into the home stretch. The winner (or winners?) will be given a chance to sell at FPD. I think we have 2 more assignments to go!

My 2nd submission for FPD’s Teacher’s Pet
August 6, 2008, 7:04 am
I was fortunate enough to make it to the 2nd round of the Funky Playground Designs Teacher’s Pet Program. Our 2nd assignment was to create a pack of extracted elements. This is a stretch for me. I’m not much of a realistic designer, but I had fun & was actually inspired to create a whole kit or two from some of the elements I played around with for this challenge. So here is A Hodge Podge of Elements and you can get it here (no more passwords, so just grab it from the link in the gallery description):

Who knows what else is in store for this program, but I’m having fun playing along. And the nice thing about this program is that they’re trying to narrow down to people who they think might fit in at FPD. But if you don’t make it to the next round, you can still take part in the assignments, learn (the fabulous Chere Kaye is giving tips, hosting chats & providing tutorials). So for this month at least, I’ll be learning & honing my skills and hopefully creating fun, fresh and unique items for the challenges.

Want this for FREE?

WANT THIS FOR FREE? WELL GO HERE & GET IT!
Funky Playground Designs is having a little apprentice program & this was my submission for the first assignment, which was to create a “trendy” mini kit. My take on “trendy” is fun, bright colors & really cool shapes. Retro seems to be really in these days, too, so I had a retro theme in mind when I came up with the color scheme and patterns. As far as trendy elements, I see a lot of acrylic/epoxy and buttons (flair) seem to be really popular, too, so you’ll see some of that in here. You have to get the FPD Newsletter in order to get the password to unzip, though, so go get on the list now!
